Underway. The Ministry of Justice submitted the draft bill for public review on 2 May 2024. According to this draft bill, Austria will apply an “opt-in” mechanism. Stakeholders can now submit comments until 27 May 2024. Once this public review phase has ended, the parliamentary phase will be initiated. Only after the draft bill has gone through the entire parliamentary procedure, the law will enter into force on the day following its publication in the Federal Law Gazette.
