Bird & Bird advise Honeywell International Inc. in their acquisition of Saab technology assets

International law firm Bird & Bird assisted US listed Honeywell International Inc., in its acquisition of heads-up-display (HUD) assets for use in a variety of Honeywell avionics offerings, from Swedish aerospace and defense company Saab AB.

As part of the acquisition agreement, Saab will partner with Honeywell to develop and strengthen its HUD product line. HUDs give pilots increased situational awareness, especially at night or in difficult weather conditions. Passengers will also enjoy safer and more fuel-efficient flights, while more often reaching their destinations on time.

The addition of the HUD assets will further strengthen Honeywell's comprehensive end-to-end avionics and safety offerings. Importantly, the HUDs will be integrated into Honeywell Anthem, a new revolutionary integrated flight deck with an intuitive user interface and highly scalable design, which will also feature state-of-the art characteristics such as wide field-of-view, high image resolution, low system latency and lower weight. It will also be made available for Honeywell Primus Epic flight decks and standalone retrofit solutions.

Bird & Bird have a long-standing strong relationship with Honeywell spanning several decades, working with them across multiple jurisdictions, practice areas and sectors. At Bird & Bird, we value long-lasting partnerships and devote our best resources to creating products and giving advice that helps our clients with their daily legal challenges and strategic possibilities.

We have a strong, industry-focused M&A offering, providing clients with seamless advice on their tech-focussed strategic acquisitions. Bird & Bird's team representing Honeywell was led by partner and practice head Hans Svensson (Tech M&A and Corporate) and included counsel Lukas Holmberg (Tech M&A and Corporate), of counsel Jörgen Ekström (Corporate & Commercial), partner Carl-Magnus Uggla (Tax), counsel Gunnar Hjalt (Intellectual Property), senior associate Dasha Arntyr (Employment), senior associate Ariana Sohrabi (Commercial) and associate Michael Butler (Corporate).
