As a partner in our Hamburg office, I offer our clients long-standing expertise in renewables, energy networks and complex infrastructure projects. I have been active in the energy sector since 2010, which has provided me with a profound inside knowledge as well as a good understanding of the energy business.

International law firm Bird & Bird advised AMPYR Solar Europe (ASE) on the signing of a multi-year contract with VW Kraftwerk GmbH.

VW Kraftwerk will purchase over 650,000 Guarantees of Origin (GoOs) from ASE – each representing the renewable energy attribute for 1 MWh – from three newly built projects in two countries over a period of ten years. ASE will supply the GoOs from two of its Dutch solar plants, located in the municipalities of Noordoostpolder and Echt-Susteren, and from one of its German solar plants in Saxony.

The deal further highlights ASE’s position as one of Europe’s fastest-growing Independent Power Producers (IPPs).

Headquartered in London, with offices in Maastricht, Utrecht, Frankfurt and Berlin, the company is an Independent Solar Developer and IPP with in-house end-to-end capability across Asset Development, Financing, Construction, Operations and Power Sales.

The Bird & Bird team advising on the deal was led by partner Lars Kyrberg and consisted of associates Georg Höxter and Tatjana Beck (all Commercial/Energy & Utilities, Hamburg).
