Bird & Bird picked up a prestigious Chambers and Partners award last Friday for our work in Cuba. The firm was selected as the best international counsel operating in Cuba, beating contenders Akerman, Greenberg Traurig, Holland & Knight, Lupicinio and Uría Menéndez. This was the first time Chambers has bestowed this particular award.
The awards ceremony and dinner was held at Loews Miami Beach Hotel and Madrid partner Hermenegildo Altozano was on hand to represent the firm and collect the award.
Peter Knight, London partner and key member of our Latin America Group, said: "This award is a reflection of the hard work and expertise of Hermenegildo; he is the driving force behind our market-leading reputation in Cuba and it is wonderful that his impressive work in this jurisdiction of increasing importance is being recognised. It also shows the impressive professionalism of our Latin America Group, which is a central part of the global service we provide for our clients."
The Chambers Latin America Awards are based on extensive research by this world-renowned legal directory, and awards are given to national firms and the leading international players across the region. Winning an award reflects a law firm’s pre-eminence in key practice areas in Latin America, as well as their notable achievements over the past 12 months including outstanding work, impressive strategic growth, and excellence in client service.
