Mikko Ahonen

I am the managing partner in our Helsinki office. I have extensive experience advising on a wide range of corporate, M&A and real estate transactions.

Specialising in mergers & acquisitions, corporate and securities law work and real estate transactions, my practice consists of advising both domestic and international clients in their transactional and corporate needs. We regularly advise clients with public tender offers, private equity transactions, complex cross-border transactions, creation of incentive plans for the management and employees, and complex internal corporate restructurings, among others.

I am also one of the leading experts in warranty and indemnity insurances. I advise both the underwriters as the subscribers on all stages of the process from the underwriting up to the end of the claims process. This provides Bird & Bird with a unique access to data from wide range of transactions.

Our clients know me for my responsiveness, on-point advice, no-nonsense approach and commercial mindset. I take client satisfaction seriously and am constantly utilising new technologies and practices to make the transaction process more user-friendly to our clients.

My post-graduate studies on international business law at King's College have greatly benefited our clients in their cross-border transactions as I am familiar with the different techniques to address common legal problems in the US, UK and Europe.

Before joining Bird & Bird in 2010, I worked for several years at another leading Nordic law firm in Finland. I am a member of the Finnish Bar Association, the Finnish Corporate Law Association and the Finnish Insurance Lawyers' Association.
